November 22, 2012– Hawaii became state #18 on Thanksgiving morning with the Valley Island Road Runners Turkey Trot 2.6 mile race. The point of this race was to predict your time. I predicted 40 minutes…and did the race in 41:01 (not too bad a prediction). Though it might seem that a race on Maui would be all tropics and palm trees… this race was in Kula which is in the mountains. We had the tropical humidity along with the cooler mountain air and plenty of hills!
We got a friendly bystander to take this panoramic photo after the race. You can see that we were definitely in the mountains…and in Hawaii.
