Friday June 13, 2014 the East Coast Dad’s Day Trifecta (as we dubbed it) began with the 7 p.m. Library 5K race in Georgetown, Delaware. We had our doubts about even getting there. Our Thursday night plane was cancelled so we flew into Baltimore early Friday morning. After nearly drowning in a sudden downpour in Washington, DC we headed off for the “2 hour drive” to Delaware with time to spare. Unfortunately 2 hours turned into 4 (to drive 100 miles!!) and we arrived 10 minutes before the start, having not eaten anything. We grabbed our bibs, lined up, and RAN! Glenda won the race in a blistering 19:45. The heat and humidity got to me, and I finished in 41:15…hot but happy to have completed state number 27. The watermelon afterwards tasted amazing and the burger I had for supper was well earned.

Obviously struggling a little with the heat and humidity, but getting it done while wearing the uniform of my new team!
