Ontario
I always thought that when I finished the U.S. States, I would also run the Canadian Provinces ….but I had the opportunity to start a little early. So after completing 22 states and miscellaneous races in England and Ireland, I began my Canadian quest as well, and it will be an ongoing part of the challenge!
ONTARIO
On August 10, 2013 I ran the Sens Shuffle 5K in Ottawa, ONT. It was put on in conjunction with ITU Duathlon Worlds, which Glenda was participating in (and she won a Gold Medal!) So after seeing her finish, I trotted off in the delightfully cool Canadian afternoon to run a 5K…and got my first sub-40 minute race in many years, at 37:38! Even better, Glenda got the Team USA manager to stick around to give me a US Flag to carry over the finish line, just like all the Team USA athletes had.
PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND
I got my second province on a family trip to PEI. July 14, 2018 in Charlottetown, PEI, I ran the Cox and Palmer 5k and Glenda ran the 10k (as Anne of Green Gables). It was a lovely day, a scenic race with a lot of friendly folks. Glenda was second woman overall in the 10K. I was second in my age group in the 5k with a time of 49:50…which made me very happy as I have been struggling with issues in my running of late.
