March 23, 2013–Colorado became state #19, but not with out some wrinkles along the way. We arrived in Denver on the 22nd, intending to do the Spring Fever 5K and 10K (myself the 5 and Glenda the longer race) in Golden. However, due to a freak Spring snow storm (which eventually dropped a foot of snow on the area) it was cancelled. I was prepared to just call it fate and not get the state that weekend, but Glenda was determined I should add Colorado to my list and so she went looking. She found the Quick Like a Bunny Fun Run in downtown Denver and they said they were going to go regardless of weather…so it was on again.
The race was small, made much smaller by the snowstorm. We had a blast, despite the cold (4 degree windchill) and the windburned faces! And I had a 5k “snow PR” of 43:44.
- This is a view of the race course when we arrived on race day. Note the flag in the distance to get an idea of the wind.
- This is Glenda and I after the race. She won the 10K and I finished the 5K strong.
