On June 5, 2011 I added state number 9 to the list by running the See Jane Run 5K in Alameda. It was a great course, mostly flat along the bay, and as I ran toward the finish line I could see San Francisco shining across the bay like the promised land as I ran toward it. Glenda ran the Half Marathon, but because my wave of the 5K didn’t start until 50 minutes after the Half, we finished almost together. Afterward we celebrated…the race’s motto was “we run for Chocolate and Champagne.” And they were serious, part of the after race fun included a custom champagne glass, free champagne and chocolate, as well as a medal. And I ran it at a 13:11 pace, fastest since my knee surgery the year before.
